Katherine Lavoie was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is an undergraduate English major at Worcester State University. With a concentration in writing, she hopes to become a published author in the near future. She has an avid interest in contemporary poetry and memoir based novels. Katherine’s enthusiasm for language combined with her emotional nature drives her creative work. Alongside being a student, Katherine choreographs dance and plays the French horn. She hopes her deep appreciation for the arts is fully captured by her work. Katherine won the third place prize in the Barbara Pilon Poetry Contest in the fall of 2014. With a graduation date of spring 2016, she hopes to then pursue an MFA in Creative Writing.
