Sadia AboHussien is a senior at Emerson College, double-majoring in Communications and Creative Writing with a fiction focus. She is a queer, Muslim Egyptian creative born in the mountains of Upstate New York, where she grew up waitressing for her family’s restaurant. Previously, Sadia worked for education and community programs at The Center for Discovery, 826 Boston, GrubStreet, and now, Mass Poetry. Her heart lies in the intersections of storytelling, community care, and empowering the voices of people. Her work has been published in INDEX Magazine, where she also served as Editorial Creative Director, helping other college students bridge gaps between fashion, identity, and social consciousness. She’s received The Johari Window and Rising Star Awards from Emerson College’s Communication Studies department, where she’s met professors who have shaped her into the writer, thinker, and communicator she is today. While she awaits graduation, she spends her free time honing her makeup artistry skills, hand-making earrings to gift to loved ones, trying to teach herself how to crochet, and dreaming up a world of unity and joy with her friends.
