We are delighted to present an interview that News @ Northeastern did with our Fall 2022 Event & Communications Co-op Coordinator, Victor Hugo Mendevil! Victor is a second-year MA in English graduate student at Northeastern University, and we’ve been very lucky to have him co-oping at Mass Poetry over the past six months. He has been a great help in organizing some of our biggest events of 2022, including this year’s Evening of Inspired Leaders, U35 series, Boston Book Festival, and other important programs at Mass Poetry. Victor always brings so much passion and thoughtfulness to our team and we are proud to see him featured in this interview!
Victor Hugo Mendevil: “What I’ve taken away [during my co-op experience at Mass Poetry] is that poetry, and what I’m doing as a future educator, isn’t just me writing and publishing an article in a scholarly journal–it’s beyond that… It’s the interactions and the impact you’re making on students, the impact you’re making on your fellow writers and on all types of people. It’s about understanding the power of your words and both how to be careful with it, but also really nourish it and nurture it.”
Thank you, News @ Northeastern, for the glowing profile and spotlighting our organization. Our partnership with Northeastern University’s Co-op Experiential Learning program is deeply valued by our team and we are grateful for the students that we have the chance to work with each semester. Go Huskies!
