The Boston National Poetry Month Festival, sponsored by the Tapestry of Voices and Kaji Aso Studio in partnership with the Boston Public Library, presents a marathon of readings by professional published poets, celebrities, and numerous prize winners, with student participation, open mikes, workshops, and book tables. And this marathon runs for three days with free admission.
On Friday the reading in the Commonwealth Salon room at the BPL are:
12:00-1:00 P.M. Dan Tobin, Afaa M. Weaver, Christine Casson
1:00-2:00P.M. David Ferry and George Kalogeris
2:00-3:00 P.M. Rhina P. Espaillat , X.J. Kennedy
3:00-4:00P.M. Kathleen Spivack, Richard Hoffman, Judith Steinbergh
On Saturday, April 6, the readings will take place in Rabb Lecture Hall at the BP from, 10:00 am – 4:40 pm. During this time 40 poets will read for 10-minutes each. The day begins with five Boston-area high school students. Other poets include Regie O. Gibson, Carol Weston, CD Collins, Charles Coe and Mass. State Representative Denise Provost.
On Sunday, the readings will again take place in Rabb Lecture Hall from 1:10 – 4:40 pm. 20 poets will read for 10-minutes each. Poets include Ifeanyi Menkiti, Gloria Mindock, Doug Holder, Fred Marchant and Mass Poetry Executive Director, January O’Neil.
The program also offers an OPEN MIKE on Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 – 3:00 (Room 5-6). There’s also a FREE WORKSHOP Sun 3:15 – 4:30
