Media Take Notice of the Massachusetts Poetry Festival

Various media take note that the Masachusetts Poetry Festival will be held in Salem in 2011.

The Massachusetts Poetry Festival, held for the last two years in Jack Kerouac’s Lowell, will be coming in May to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Salem.

Though both of these celebrated writers are known primarily for fiction, they each wrote poetry as well. The Mass. Poetry Festival’s purpose is outreach and education — helping to foster the working poet as well as the poet in all of us.

When organizers announced they were seeking a new location for the event, poets from the north of Boston area expressed interest in Salem as a possible venue. . . . Read the rest of the story in the Salem Gazette.
