That’s right: 178 poets and presenters are reading, leading workshops or performing at the Poetry Festival. It is a remarkable number. But even more remarkable is the creativity, talent, diversity and energy of this group. Poets reading range in age, literally, from teens to people in their 80’s. We have famous poets. Obscure brilliant poets. And poets who will be famous in a few years. We have French speaking poets and Cambodian speaking poets. We have great teachers. And great readers. And poets that make you laugh. Here is a small sampling of the names of poets performing at this year’s Festival: Louise Gluck, Robert Pinsky, James Tate, Anne Waldman, Afaa Michael Weaver, Michael Casey, Dara Wier, Jericho Brown, X.J. Kennedy, Erica Funkhouser, Ifeanyi Menkiti, David Ferry, Suji Kwock Kim, Jill McDonough, Gail Mazur, Lloyd Schwartz, Ellen Watson, James Haug, Jarita Davis, Joan Houlihan, Fred Marchant, Richard Hoffman, Barbara Helfgott Hyett, Jeffrey Harrison, Celia Gilbert and many, many more. Browse the schedule and make sure you reserve your seats for the events you want to be a part of. The smaller workshops on Saturday are already sold out, so make sure you reserve your seats online to make sure you do not miss the sessions you most want to attend.
